Chloee's party/Cody's homecoming
Party at the Briscoes' house! It was a quick trip up there. We left Thursday at around 7:00 pm, and we got there in the wee hours of the morning (well around 6:00 am), just to head home Sunday afternoon. What were we thinking! yikes! Anyway, we crashed pretty much right after we got there for a few hours. Then we spent Friday getting ready for Chloee's party, and I also got to go spend some time with Aubree. It was really nice being able to spend some one on one time with her and get to know her a bit better. Not to mention, she introduced me to pretty much the most amazing bread sticks EVER. ;) Arthur and Tucker got to play together, and they even got to go to the lake at the park where we had our open house.
The party was great, and Chloee seemed so excited. There was a pretty good turn out for the middle of the summer, and it was fun to see Chloee partying it up with all her friends. We spent the evening playing Balderdash with all of them, and that was a blast.
Also, one of the big reasons for us being at the party was because Dustin was in charge of the cake. It is a tradition in the Briscoe household that the children make each other's graduation cakes, and in this case, it was Dustin's turn. So, instead of doing a traditional "Congrats Grad" cake, he proposed a "ten commandments" theme. Thus, with no further ado, Chloee's graduation commandments cake, highlighting all of Chloee's lovable quirks. I think it turned our really well.
It was great that Cody's homecoming talk was also scheduled for that weekend, so we able to be there for that. I think it was one of the best homecoming talks I've ever heard. It was well composed, spiritual, his mission stories weren't forced but really supported the message of his talk, and it was heartfelt. Great job Cody!
All in all it was a fast trip, but well worth it. It was so great to see the Briscoes again so soon.
