Happy Happy Birthday Emma Dear--Two Year Old
So this is obviously late, but better late than never, right? I want to remember everything about my sweet baby girl at this age, so this post will be mostly for my memory.
I made this slideshow for Emma for her birthday. Since Coltrin was to be born right around her birthday, I wanted to do something special for her that showed her that she was a baby once too and that she is very loved. The song has significance to us also! It is her specially daddy daughter song.
So Emma at the age of two...she blows me away everyday. She is beautiful and sweet, empathetic and lively. I just can't get over how much I love her. Here is a snapshot of Emma at the age of two:
-she talks ALL THE TIME
-she loves to sing...her favorite songs right now are "Let it Go," "Hello" (the primary song), "Jesus Wants me for a Sunbeam," "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star," "You are my Sunshine," and "Barbara Ann"
-she calls her grandparents Buca
-she still doesn't like to eat
- Her favorite foods are Mac and Cheese, pasta, peanut butter and honey sandwiches, grapes, oranges, raisins, apples, cheese, pizza, crackers...pretty much carbs, fruit, and dairy. It is hard to get her to eat meats and veggies.
-she loves to run, giggle, smile, and did I mention sing?
-she likes to cuddle ever since Coltrin came, and she'll climb into bed with us in the mornings and snuggle
-she loves to spin and dance
-she is obsessed with princesses
-she loves Frozen, of course
-she gives Coltrin lots of kisses and hugs, and she has gotten really good at making him smile. She also likes to cuddle with him in the boppy pillow.
-she climbs on everything and is super independent
-she is super social, talking to people in the stores, smiling and crazy with other kids
-it is super cute when she says please and thank you
-Her favorite books currently are "Tea Party Rules," "I'll Love you Forever," and "Grandmas are for Giving Hugs"
-she always worries when Dustin isn't in the car with us. She says,"Ah oh, daddy. Daddy?"
-she worries when the baby isn't in the car, and she'll ask about him
-she gave up her binky! She still asks for it sometimes, but we say "binky all gone, bye bye" and then she'll say "all gone, bye bye" back to me.
-she loves monkeys. When we go to the zoo, that is what she wants to see. After that, she is most excited to see the hippos and the bears.
-she loves to give kisses, lots of kisses
-she says nightly prayers, and hates to miss it because it is one of her stalling tactics at night.
-in her nightly prayers, she always thanks Heavenly Father for Arthur without being prompted. I'll be trying to get her to say "thank you" and she'll skip it and go straight to "Arfur"
-she says "mommy wait!" every time I get up to leave at night. She wants to say prayers; she wants kisses; she wants a book; she wants a drink (etc.)...anything to stall.
-she doesn't like it when I nurse Coltrin, she'll push the pillow and say "no!"
-she drags her big pink chair into the kitchen all the time to stand on in order to help me work
-if she doesn't want me working, she wiggles in between me and the sink/island/whatever I'm next to and pushes me away/hugs my legs and pulls me away
-she likes to talk on the phone
-when she goes to her friends house, she strips down and puts on their princess dress up clothes, and it takes two people to pry the dress off of her and dress her when it is time to go. She's a strong little booger.
-she LOVES the sister missionaries and she likes to carry around the Book of Mormon they gave her
-She hates Sacrament meeting at church
-she insists on wearing dresses most of the time because she is a "pretty princess"
-she likes Daniel Tiger...especially the "When You're Feeling Mad" song. She learned how to make a mad face from that episode. However, the show also got her to eat vegetables and get excited about going potty.
-she doesn't like to sleep in her bed, she always wants to sleep on her big stuffed animal dog. She also has to have a billion stuffed animals, blankets, and her ducky (that she affectionately calls Quacky) to go to sleep.
-Her favorite stuffed animals are Tuckers (the dog from Valentines day that looks like/is named after Aubree's dog Tucker), her ducky of course, Violet (a bear in a purple dress from my childhood), my first stuffed animal bear, Bob Cat, her Princess Sofia doll, the duck that sings "You are My Sunshine," and the big stuffed animal dog she sleeps on.
-If she sees me crying, she wipes my tears and brushes my face or puts her hands on my cheeks looking very worried. She is so sweet and loving and nurturing. She is going to be a little mama to the rest of our kids. She already tries to copy everything I do with Coltrin.
She brings so much joy into my life. Now, she throws her fair share of tantrums too. She definitely has the pouting, whining, screaming terrible twos thing down, but I still look at this picture of her (below) and melt. She is my little princess, my Emmakins, my baby duck, our GiGi. Man I love this girl!
